I took the gamble, said goodbye to earth and embraced the inevitability of what was to come. Well ...they obviously kept the truth of this mission very tightly under wraps. Because now i awake, 9563 earth years later. Not 4.2 as was written in the contract but, a stretch of time that may as well be an eternity as far as I'm concerned.

So here I am after 9563 years of dormancy, no one else is alive ... they're all gone, sacrificed for the greater good. That greater good, I now understand was to achieve what no man had ever thought possible. But yet here I stand, hurtling ever closer to the very point of transmission as living proof.

It was 9573 years ago that the message was first received and another 7 years for the code to be deciphered. The message simply stated

...you are next.

To what that meant no one could be entirely sure. But the crazies and god fearers were spurned into a chaotic panic of self destruction and anarchy. Their numbers were many ..kinda hard to believe that one simple message would be the downfall of what was then, the pinnacle of modern society. Does it still exist? Who knows? I sure as hell never will and i sure as hell don't care.

My only concern right now is surviving the onslaught of these 4 strange beings that i have awoken to, seemingly hell bent on my destruction. It didn't take long to isolate their one weak point, their Achilles heel. As I spin through the air, colours awash all around me. I focus all my attention on hitting that one single target on the nape of its neck. The first being drops to the ground, plasma coursing through its body, as I line myself up for the next one.

wholy crap man, you really shone through with your skills on this one. damn, was this all just poser or did you do some postwork? by the way, you know you could probably make a living off of your stories and pictures to go with them. seriously, you've got some of the coolest stories and the best renders to emphasize them with.

i'm actually sitting here looking at this wondering what it would have been like with some slight motion blur on the girl, just to kinda give it a bit more pizazz and emphasize she's back flipping, but i'm not sure if she was holding to the ceiling and dropped. but don't worry man, my mind tends to go off sometimes lol. this is really a great piece. good work!

wait, lol, one more thing that i thought would have looked cool to, maybe them lights from the ceiling, maybe some glow around the lights themselves. alright, i'll quit pickin' lol.

Yup i painted in the electric effects in photoshop ..spent a couple of days getting to grips with the brushes and some of the other tools in photoshop. Been wanting to learn photoshop for such a long time and am so glad i've finally gotten into it. I knew it was a great box of tricks but never really considered the scope of what it fully offers. So much to learn lol ..my head spins at the thought of it all.

I agree that it would have looked better with a slight glow to the lights, maybe i'll try and do it in photoshop. I would love to have put motion blur on the girl but i dont have a clue how to do it yet ...i guess thats next on list of things to learn^^

I read a lot of fantasy and sci fi as a kid and always dreamt of been able to create my own stories but never actually put it into practice. So its nice to be able to add a small narrative to some of my works. Maybe some point soon i'll try to put a comicstrip together.

This is great work, and the story clip is awesome. You had me hooked and looking for more! For photoshop you might try out the Linda.com tutorial series. They are incredible. I am learning a ton from them. They really help you get a good grip on all the basic tools available to you and some of the things they can do.

Yeah i have that video tutotial cheers, and a whole heap of other video tuts to trawl my way through. It's just having the time to watch 'em all really, but yeah, i should really start commiting an hour each to day to watching tutss
