First had a stab at vue a couple of months back and came up with this. I think its ok apart from the textures could look a lil better on the figure. DOF rendered in vue. Spent a good while messing about and getting to grips with dof and was really impressed with the accuracy in the depth.
Took absolutely forever to render with dof though and decided that i'd be better off learning to add it in postwork. So in all my renders either poser or vue, i now use dof pro plugin for photoshop, although its not quite as accurate as rendered dof it still looks alright.

This next one i had to re render cause first time round after i rendered i noticed that textures were missing bump, so had to add bump values to each texture and render again lol. So next time you import any figures from poser to vue, make sure you check bump values of each texture before you hit render.

Hope you enjoyed my first venture with vue cause there'll be much more to come. smile

hey sebalon, so this is the one you were doing huh? not bad man, not bad at all. yeah dof can be a killer. the only renderer i found really good for quick dof was maxwell render. maxwell automatically does dof for you while rendering based on your camera settings but other than that it seems all other renderers are so time consuming. but it looks like you are picking it up quick.

honestly, i've never tried dof in vue yet, so im clueless in that aspect on how to make it quicker. i got that dof pro plugin to like you said, but ive just never got around to using it, but i've heard it's really good.

that second render looks awesome though. the only thing that kind of bothers me with that second render is the lighting on the objects. it almost seems like the light on all the surfaces don't really match with the sun, if that makes any sense.

almost like it's only ambient lighting in the scene, but i would have thought with the way the sun was shining it would have cast a more orangish light to surfaces with some shadows. maybe it's just me. nonetheless, it looks real good man, seems you got a better jump on vue than me lol. i still can't come to grips with sunlighting in vue.

by the way, that second scene, how did you import that into vue, was that as an .obj or an actual poser scene?

Thanks for comments ppl, I'm glad you like my pics smile

@Dlefik, lols very well spotted, you certainly have a good eye for cgi. What you described is exactly whats going on.
With the sunrise environment i used there was too little detail on the objects due to most been shadowed so, what i did was shifted the lighting of the sun from 80% sun and 20% ambient to around 65% sun and 35% ambient to give a lil more illumination on the objects. I guess i underestimated how much an extra 15% ambient light would make, i kinda told myself it looked natural enough to do a final render.

But thats the beauty of it ...every mistake i make is a valuable lesson learned^^

Thanks again for such constructive comments doode!!

Edit) The figure was imported as poser scene ..lots of benefits this way as i can position the figure in my vue scene, save it as vue scene. Then if any adjustments need making like in this case, adjustments were needed to compensate for the slight slope on the rock that he's stood on. All i had to do was open the poser scene again in poser and slightly adjust the figures feet, save it then open up the vue scene again. Vue then detects that the figure has been altered and asks if you want to reflect it in the scene.

Plus you can import poser figures fully rigged into vue if you like and pose directly in vue although, i wouldnt recomend this for the average home system as vue is likely to grind to a halt with the fully rigged poser import.

awesome man! i remember hearing somewhere before that vue has good support for poser scenes, but at the time that i was trying to use vue i was only working in daz studio so my only option that i knew of at the time was exporting my scenes as .obj then importing into vue. it worked ok for the most part but was pretty limited as i had to get my scene just right in daz before going into vue. then if i needed to make changes i had to go back in daz then export again and so on. there were probably easier ways to do it with daz but being pretty new myself to daz and poser i wasn't sure. but i wanted to see if someone has tried and had good luck with poser scenes before i went about it myself. seems it worked great for you. and it's cool you can even repose your models in vue. thats a big bonus for me.

glad i could help you on your renders though. im no pro by far so i'm sure some of the long timers can lend better advice than me. but it all looks real good!
